Synopsis
The film “k †› Å 7ë ÷ @ qÀ”* was created out of my desire to explore types of digital and computer-enabled processes which might correspond to the process of burning a film strip. As a basic premise, I defined ignition as the difference between what something is and what something is not (anymore). By combining command line interface software and simple scripting, I found a syntax which takes one data structure (media source) as a starting point and differentiates it from another data structure (operating system source) and results in displaying their difference, in a “temporary” video format. The concept of this work is that it does not actually exist as a video, but in the form of a script that results in a similar aesthetic but different content and duration in each iteration, depending on the computer on which the “film” is displayed.
This preview is only a documentative fragment and one among the tests in one of the possible iterations; the content and structure of one “final temporary video” are dependent on the system they are played from. The final idea is that each play of the file would change the content of the “original video script”, which would effectively mean no one iteration is the same. The work is a constant WiP.
