Synopsis

A manifesto screened here in its 35mm double-screen version recently restored by the CNC, Ixe is without doubt one of Soukaz’s most emblematic works. In response to the censorship of Race d’Ep, Ixe is built on a desire for saturation: to show everything, without limits, all at once. “An imploded, crucified film. Ixe is a dismemberment: at the four cardinal points, at the four ends of the cross, war, sex, religion and drugs. The play of superimpositions, the shifts of lightning bolts barely memorized by the eye, and the skilful repetition of themes, remind us that sex is also the war of the body, and the Pope the drug of the people” (Guy Hocquenghem)
