Surveillance : « Fog makes revolt possible »
Séance programmée et présentée par Raphaëlle Giaretto
« Fog makes revolt possible » (Facial Weaponization Suite, Zach Blas)
Between détournement and biometric hacking, the films in this session blur the traces of individual surveillance by turning faces — or their absence — into our weapons.
It is in the silence of a clinical inspection, from contemporary suburbs to the monitoring of menstrual cycles through the phone, that a new kind of horror film takes shape, one where control is total.
They also bear witness to the stagnant normalization of collective surveillance — a state trap that feeds a protean, faceless fear of the “other.”
In selfies, the body too is probed, but the monitoring can be reversed! If “No one is safe in a police state,” let us still try to infiltrate these technologies, to foil the gazes that grid us in.
