REMINDER is an audiovisual performance based on real-time improvisation, analogue sound synthesis and multi-projection.

Transformed through photocopying and then transferred onto 16 mm film loops, the images appear as fragile traces of time and memory. Manipulated live, they dissolve, repeat and unfold within the space, whilst the sound is sculpted from frequencies, textures and analogue sources.

The combination of synthesisers, modular systems, drum machines, projectors and mechanical image manipulation produces a constantly evolving audiovisual environment. Punctuated by fragments of speech, the performance transforms the projection into a physical and spatial experience, in which sound, image and light mutually transform one another.

Biographies

Méryll Ampe is a sound artist and composer who originally trained as a sculptor. Viewing sound as a material to be shaped in real time, he creates minimalist performances using analogue synthesisers, modular systems and drum machines. His work explores the texture, resonance and physical dimension of sound. For the past ten years or so, he has been collaborating with artists, musicians, choreographers and filmmakers, and has presented his performances in France and internationally.

Sergej Vutuc is an artist whose practice combines photography, experimental film, sound art and publishing. Through analogue imagery, live projection and mechanical reproduction techniques, he explores the transformation of images and materials through translation, movement and repetition. Using, in particular, film, photocopying and performance, he turns projection into a physical and spatial experience and examines the relationships between image, memory, sound and space. His work is presented internationally through exhibitions, screenings, performances and publications, both in independent venues and art institutions.
