My work evokes a cinematic world that is intimately linked to its mechanisms and to the techniques of filming and projection. I create kinetic sculptures and installations by exploring the various mechanical aspects specific to filmic objects, particularly those related to cinematographic equipment. Projectors, cameras, screens and mechanical apparatus thus form the essential elements of my aesthetic vocabulary. Beyond approaching them formally through motorised systems, I also explore mechanics, light and movement conceptually by evoking them through layering and repetition.
In contrast to the profusion of artificial images that make up our visual daily life, I seek to question their nature by emphasising their materiality and authenticity. I am interested not so much in the image itself as in the means by which it is produced, and I do not hesitate to make the image disappear in favour of the apparatus that brings it into being. I want viewers to rediscover a simpler, more accessible—even playful—relationship with the image they are looking at.
