FOCUS #2 - EVERY LITTLE CELL

Coping with bodies in a state of limbo, a longing for clarity, numb limbs, a flash of blinding light, a fragmented memory, raised scars and invisible burns, amidst the smell of sterile sheets and boxes of out-of-date medicines. The countless attempts to restart a jammed cellular machinery, and that phrase playing on a loop: “every little cell in my body is happy and well”.
This focus brings together 10 works by artists whose cinematic and performative practice is rooted in their relationship with the world, oscillating between lives in lockdown, the experience of the crip body, and a desire for collective, anti-ableist worlds. By manipulating film, VHS tape or digital material, these films invite us to enter worlds that are as dreamlike as they are very real, where bodies and minds struggle: against trauma or illness, but also, and above all, against the institutions and systems that organise their disability. This screening invites us to let the clock run out of sync so that we may enter a time that can no longer be measured.
