Between documentary and painting in movement, poetry and magic, these film portraits intend to capture the spirit of each of its subjects, as well as that of a genetration (early 80’s). The portraits present generally Mexican and New York City artists, friends and contemporaries of the filmmaker. (Original music by Nicolayevsky, except for one portrait.) - Nicolayevsky now continues to portray mostly contemporary artists and friends. Thanks to a grant from the Rockefeller and Ford foundations, he has completed a second collection of film and video portraits, where we are able to witness the presence of some filmmakers, video artists, and other media personalities, such as curators, directors of Film Festivals, etc. Nicolayevsky’s vision offers a variety of aesthetic, documentary and critical elements of the present day that without question will grant valuable richness into the future.
