Agathe Dreyfus

Originaire de Grasse, Agathe Dreyfus vit et travaille aujourd’hui à Marseille. Au début des années 1990, elle suit assidûment les cours de cinéma de Nicole Brenez à l’Université d’Aix-en-Provence, puis part vivre un an New-York. Elle fréquente l’Anthology Film Archives (lieu fondé entre autres par Jonas Mekas), voit beaucoup de films, rencontre de nombreux Lithuaniens et également Zoé Lünd, scénariste de Bad Lieutenant d’Abel Ferrara, avec qui elle réalise un entretien. C’est pendant cette même période qu’elle réalise son premier film Diamond, un journal filmé en super 8, une errance poétique et musicale au gré des rencontres. De retour en France elle s’installe à Paris, rencontre Patricia Mazuy et devient assistante de sa monteuse, Bénédicte Brunet, pendant trois ans, puis monteuse de fictions.
En parallèle, elle participe à l’aventure de ZALEA TV, télévision associative libre à ambition nationale, et s’investit en tant que réalisatrice et programmatrice. Elle écrit également dans les revues d’analyse du cinéma comme Admiranda et dans différents catalogues. Agathe Dreyfus qui désire connaître tous les rouages de la production apprend ensuite le métier de chargée de production sur des films courts et documentaires. Aujourd’hui, elle revient à ses premières passions, où plaisir et liberté sont le moteur essentiel. Plus que jamais préoccupée par les questions de l’engagement et par la vie citoyenne, elle réalise, monte ses films, et crée 360°et même plus, avec Christine Gabory et Ivora Cusack, association vouée à la création-production de films expérimentaux et documentaires, à la diffusion et à la transmission. La première projection, organisée en collaboration avec l’association Polly Maggoo, a eu lieu le 11 novembre 2005 en présence de la cinéaste américaine Barbara Hammer. (E.S. 2005)

Originally from Grasse (South of France), Agathe Dreyfus lives and works in Marseilles. At the beginning of the ‘90s, she attends assiduously Nicole Brenez’s lectures at the University of Aix-en-Provence, then goes to New York to live there for a year. She spends a lot of her time at the Anthology Film Archives (founded by Jonas Mekas amongst others), watches a lot of films, meets lots of Lithuanians and also Zoe Lünd, screenwriter for Abel Ferrara’s Bad Lieutenant, with whom she films an interview. During that same period, she makes her first film Diamond, a super-8 diary film, a poetic and musical wandering over the course of various encounters. Back again in France she moves to Paris, meets Patricia Mazuy and becomes assistant of her editor, Bénédicte Brunet, during 3 years, and then becomes a fiction editor.
At the same time, she takes part in the adventure of Zalea Tv – a non-profit free television channel with a national ambition – as a filmmaker and programmer. She also writes in film analysis publications Admiranda, Balthazar and various catalogues. Agathe Dreyfus, wishing to know all the mechanisms of film production then works as a Production Manager on shorts and documentaries. Today she comes back to her first passions where pleasure and freedom are the main motor. More than ever preoccupied by questions of political commitment and citizen life, she shoots and edits her films and creates with Christine Gabory and Ivora Cusack 360°et même plus, an organization dedicated to creating, producing and distributing experimental and documentary films, and to passing on these film practices... The first screening, organized in collaboration with Polly Magoo took place on November 11th, 2005, in the presence of the American filmmaker Barbara Hammer. (E.S.)
