Masha Godovannaya

Masha Godovannaya est cinéaste expérimentale et curatrice.
Née à Moscou en 1976, elle a étudié la musique, l’édition et la publication de livres en Russie avant d’obtenir un diplôme en production de films au Brooklyn College de New-York. Elle a travaillé pendant plusieurs années en tant que chercheuse et programmatrice à l’Anthology Film Archives et réalisé plusieurs films qui ont été projetés dans de nombreux festivals d’avant-garde en Amérique et à l’international (NY Underground Film Festival, Evolution Film Festival, Centre Georges Pompidou à Paris, London Film Festival, International Film Festival de Rotterdam, International Short Film Festival d’Oberhausen, etc.). Ses projets curatoriaux ont donné lieu à des expositions dans différents lieux comme le Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil (Rio de Janeiro), Yale University, Moscow International Film Festival, Avanto Film Festival et bien d’autres.
Elle vit actuellement à Saint-Pétersbourg où elle poursuit son travail de cinéaste et de curatrice. Elle enseigne également le film et la vidéo au Smolniy College of Liberal Arts and Science.

Masha Godovannaya is an experimental filmmaker and curator.
Born in Moscow in 1976, she studied music, book editing and publishing in Russia before majoring in film production at Brooklyn College in New York. She worked at Anthology Film Archives as a researcher and film/video curator for several years and completed a number of films which have been screened at many American and international film festivals (NY Underground Film Festival, Evolution Film Festival, Center Georges Pompidou, London Film Festival, International Film Festival Rotterdam, International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, etc.). Her curatorial projects have been presented at different venues such as Centro Cultural Banco do Brazil, Yale University, Moscow International Film Festival, Avanto Film Festival and many others.
She now lives in St. Petersburg, Russia where she continues her film-making and curatorial work. She is currently teaching film and video courses at Smolniy College of Liberal Arts and Science.
